What's New

Sourton Church, dedicated to St Thomas a Becket, is 14th to 16th century and is sandwiched between the old railway line (now a cycle track) and. the 'modern' A386.

Originally with three bells, now five, it was built mainly of stone from the moor under which it nestles.

The picture shows a view from the cycle track looking West. The churchyard is famous locally for its wonderful show of flowers in the spring.

Sourton Cross, recently re-sited, dates from about the 6th century and carries lettering linking it to a late Roman military leader.
